SB 1325 Summary

• Modifies income qualification thresholds for school tuition organization (STO) scholarships funded by corporate donations, changing the standard from 185% of the national school lunch program threshold to 133% of the federal poverty guidelines.

• Replaces references to the national school lunch and child nutrition acts income limits with federal poverty guidelines for determining low-income student eligibility across sections 43-1503 and 43-1504.

• Requires STOs to report on their websites the percentage and dollar amount of scholarships awarded to students at or below federal poverty guidelines and those between 100-133% of federal poverty guidelines.

• Applies the changes retroactively to June 30, 2018.

• Makes technical corrections to statutory language regarding scholarship caps and corporate donation requirements for low-income students.
