SB 1498 Summary

• Amends Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) board membership to require two certified law enforcement officers with disciplinary case experience, with one officer having rank of deputy and one from a county with population less than 500,000 persons.

• Authorizes AZPOST board to provide training for emergency alert notification systems, including AMBER alerts, to assist state, tribal, and local law enforcement agencies.

• Directs Department of Public Safety to assist Indian tribes in implementing and testing AMBER alert notification systems authorized under federal law and to disseminate emergency alerts from tribes that comply with state and federal dissemination requirements.

• Titles the act the "Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert on Tribal Lands Act."
