Concurrent resolution supporting greater mental health resources in Arizona and honoring Reyna Isabel Estrada, a 16-year-old killed by her untreated mentally ill brother on July 14, 2017.

Recognizes that Arizona's publicly funded mental health system exists to benefit patients and protect the public by providing treatment to those unable or unwilling to voluntarily accept care.

Acknowledges that families seeking mental health treatment for relatives face a confusing, complex system that lacks responsiveness, adequate follow-up care, and sufficient resources for community-based treatment and case management.

Affirms that families of mentally ill persons have the right to be treated with respect and compassion and deserve help navigating the mental health system and information about available resources and support services.

Declares that the Legislature has responsibility to ensure adequate funding for Arizona's mental health system to address the growing number of untreated mentally ill persons and ensure appropriate use of public funds.
