Requires school districts and charter schools to establish policies for staff to report suspected crimes involving serious offenses, deadly weapons, dangerous instruments, serious physical injury, or threats of death/serious injury to local law enforcement and the school administration.

Mandates schools notify parents/guardians of students involved in suspected crimes or conduct described above, subject to federal law requirements.

Requires schools to post their crime reporting policies and procedures on their websites by January 1, 2020, or maintain a link to an online policy manual.

Permits discipline up to dismissal for employees who violate reporting requirements, and requires schools to maintain and share disciplinary records with other schools considering hiring those individuals.

Requires the Department of Education to verify compliance with new policies by July 1, 2020, and makes schools ineligible for school safety grants without adoption of required policies by January 21, 2020.
