HB 2181 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 32-1121 to add cable television, satellite television, and telecommunications providers to the list of persons exempt from contractor licensing requirements.

• Exempts contractors and subcontractors of cable, satellite, and telecommunications providers when work is limited to installing low-voltage cable, telephone services, internet services, and data service.

• Excludes from the exemption any digging, trenching, grading, horizontal boring, compacting, or filling of earthen material before the service drop to commercial or residential structures.

• Makes technical corrections and clarifications throughout the statute, including standardizing terminology and updating obsolete language from "shall" to "is."

• Effective date: April 29, 2019 (approved by Governor).
