AZ HB2201

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 9-821.01 to require cities and towns to print party designations for all candidates for mayor and city or town council on ballots.

Establishes that only qualified electors of a specific district, ward, precinct, or other geographical designation may vote for that council member candidate in primary, general, runoff, or other elections.

Repeals previous provisions allowing cities to conduct primary elections where candidates receiving a majority of votes could be declared elected without a general election.

Applies to all city and town elections held on or after January 1, 2020.
