HB2320 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 28-2007 regarding the highway safety fee collected at vehicle registration.

• Replaces the variable highway safety fee structure (which fully funded 110% of the Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol budget minus prior unencumbered balances) with a fixed maximum fee of $18 per vehicle registration.

• Maintains the requirement that collected highway safety fees be deposited into the Arizona Highway Patrol Fund established by section 41-1752.

• Preserves the Department of Public Safety's exemption from rulemaking requirements under title 41, chapter 6 when determining the highway safety fee.
