AZ HB2631

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 49-447 to require the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality director to adopt motor vehicle and combustion engine emission standards based on California Air Resources Board standards as of January 1, 2018.

Incorporates California standards that were adopted under a federal waiver pursuant to 42 U.S. Code section 7543 and are authorized under section 177 of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S. Code section 7507).

Removes the previous requirement that Arizona emission rules be consistent with federal law provisions relating to motor vehicle emissions control.

Applies this authority to implement provisions of sections 28-955 and 49-542 of Arizona law.
