AZ HB2721

Allows town residents to use the initiative process to enact, enforce, or repeal term limits on common council members and mayors by majority vote.

Any approved term limits or term limit changes apply only to council members and mayors elected after the voters approve the measure, not retroactively to current officeholders.

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Title 9, Chapter 2, Article 3 by adding Section 9-232.05.

Approved by the Governor on April 11, 2019 and became law in the 54th Legislature's first regular session in 2019.
