HCR 2011 - Supporting Refugees

• Concurrent resolution welcoming and declaring legislative support for resettling refugees in Arizona

• Recognizes that Arizona has resettled over 60,000 refugees since 1978 from dozens of countries representing diverse religions, cultures and languages

• States that refugees contribute to Arizona's economy as workers, business owners, entrepreneurs, taxpayers and by revitalizing local communities

• Notes that current U.S. refugee admission quotas were reduced to a historic low of 22,000 in 2018, compared to the typical annual average of 75,000

• Calls for continued national effort to resettle the world's most vulnerable refugees to benefit from their entrepreneurial energy and contributions to the state and nation
