Arizona ratifies the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted by Congress on March 22, 1972.

The amendment prohibits denial or abridgment of equality of rights under law by the United States or any state on account of sex.

Congress is granted power to enforce the amendment through appropriate legislation.

The amendment takes effect two years after ratification.

The Arizona Secretary of State is directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the President of the U.S. Senate and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
