House Resolution 2001 - Grand Canyon National Park 100th Anniversary

• Recognizes the 100th anniversary of Grand Canyon National Park, which was established on February 26, 2019.

• Acknowledges the Grand Canyon's geological significance spanning nearly half of Earth's history and its continuous habitation by indigenous groups for almost 12,000 years, with six Native American tribes currently living in and around the canyon.

• Celebrates the park's historical development from Theodore Roosevelt's 1908 designation as a national monument through its 1919 achievement of national park status and 1979 designation as a World Heritage Site.

• Highlights the Grand Canyon's status as Arizona's most famous natural landmark, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, and a major tourism destination that attracted 6.2 million visitors in 2017.

• Recognizes the park's economic impact: visitor spending of $667 million in nearby communities supporting over 9,400 jobs with a cumulative local economic benefit of $938 million.
