SB 1240 Summary

• Amends section 36-509 to allow disclosure of confidential health records to a county medical examiner or alternate medical examiner investigating circumstances surrounding a death pursuant to section 11-593.

• Amends section 36-664 to allow disclosure of communicable disease related information to a county medical examiner or alternate medical examiner conducting a death investigation pursuant to section 11-593.

• Permits medical examiners access to previously protected health information and communicable disease information when investigating deaths, adding them as authorized recipients under both general health confidentiality and communicable disease confidentiality statutes.
