SB1244 Summary

• Allows persons who complete the Arizona health care cost containment system administration's training and competency standards for in-home direct care workers to satisfy assisted living facility caregiver training requirements, except for medication administration training.

• Requires individuals meeting these standards who register for medication administration examination to take only the medication administration portion of the assisted living facility caregiver examination.

• Permits medication administration competency testing to be conducted by board-approved training schools or the assisted living facility that provided the training.

• Requires the board to prescribe rules for assisted living facility caregivers consistent with training, competency and test methodology standards for in-home direct care workers by June 1, 2020.

• Updates terminology in Arizona Revised Statutes sections 36-446 and 36-446.03 regarding assisted living facility managers and training program definitions.
