AZ SB1422

Increases appointed members of the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission from 14 to 17 members, with no more than 9 from the same political party.

Adds three new appointed member positions: a person leading an indigent defense agency, a person leading a private nonprofit juvenile justice organization, and a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist with criminal justice system experience.

Maintains existing requirements for representation from police chiefs, county attorneys, sheriffs, judges, mayors, supervisors, probation officers across counties of varying population sizes.

Sets initial terms for new members at either January 9, 2020 or January 8, 2021, with subsequent appointments to follow two-year terms ending at the convening of the first regular legislative session.

Retains existing provisions that appointed members receive no compensation but are eligible for expense reimbursement.
