AZ SB1461

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 8-201.01 to add protections for parents allowing children to engage in independent activities without risk of neglect charges.

Prohibits considering a parent as neglectful solely for allowing a child of sufficient age and maturity (whose basic needs are met) to travel to and from school by walking, running, or bicycling.

Prohibits neglect charges for allowing children to travel to nearby commercial or recreational facilities, play outdoors, or remain home unattended.

Prohibits neglect charges for leaving a child unattended in a vehicle only if the child is age nine or older, or if the child is under nine and weather conditions do not present risks of hyperthermia, hypothermia, or dehydration.
