SB 1556 Summary

• Amends branding law to allow rerecording of brands with identical design or figure issued before August 2, 2017 without protest, and clarifies brand sale/transfer procedures.

• Increases maximum unreimbursed wildfire claims from the budget stabilization fund from $10 million to $20 million and establishes a nonnative vegetation species eradication fund with continuous appropriations for invasive species removal projects.

• Authorizes the Department of Forestry and Fire Management to provide grants to agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits for nonnative species eradication projects and requires annual reporting to the legislature on project expenditures and outcomes.

• Appropriates $13.552 million total from various environmental funds in fiscal year 2019-2020, including transfers from emissions inspection, underground storage tank, air quality, permit administration, and recycling funds to the water quality assurance revolving fund.

• Allocates $692,100 for Great Western Trail repairs and maintenance, allows temporary fee increases for water resources and vehicle emissions services, and suspends general fund appropriations to water quality assurance revolving fund for one fiscal year.
