Senate Resolution 1003 - Athletic Training Month

• Proclaims March 2019 as Athletic Training Month in Arizona to recognize the athletic training profession.

• Acknowledges that licensed athletic trainers in Arizona serve as primary on-site health care professionals for over 40,000 high school student athletes and 100,000 other residents engaged in sports and fitness activities.

• Recognizes athletic trainers' critical roles in preventing, evaluating, and managing athletic injuries and providing immediate care in life-threatening medical emergencies including cardiac arrest, concussion, and spinal cord injuries.

• Notes that Arizona athletic trainers are licensed by the state and employed across professional sports, colleges, high schools, hospitals, clinics, and community recreational programs, with over 700 members represented by the Arizona Athletic Trainers' Association.

• Expresses support for the work of athletic trainers and emphasizes their importance as allied health care professionals recognized by the American Medical Association since 1990.
