HB 2012 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 15-249.01 to extend the termination date of the data governance commission from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2028.

• Adds a county school superintendent appointed by the governor as a member of the 12-member data governance commission.

• Commission members continue to serve four-year terms without compensation and elect a chairperson from among themselves.

• Commission maintains duties to establish guidelines on data access, technology, privacy, security, and funding; provide technology spending recommendations; and submit annual reports to the governor and legislature.

• Bill applies retroactively from and after June 30, 2020.
