AZ HB2030

Amends section 28-369 to restrict department of public safety peace officer jurisdiction to within five miles of state-controlled ports of entry and within one mile of ports of entry on the Arizona-Mexico border, instead of throughout the state.

Changes the designation of peace officers in subsection A from "regular peace officers" to "specialty peace officers" whose powers are limited to enforcement of motor vehicle laws and rules.

Requires the department of transportation to report to the joint legislative budget committee by November 1, 2020, regarding vehicles, equipment, personnel, citations, and funding for the enforcement compliance division.

Establishes that the purpose of the reporting requirement is to evaluate a potential transition of law enforcement activities from the department of transportation enforcement compliance division to the department of public safety.
