HB 2050 Summary

• Parents have sole discretion to decide whether to immunize their children; schools cannot require immunizations or penalize students for not being immunized.

• Schools may only exclude unimmunized pupils during an active outbreak of a disease declared by the department of health services or local health department, and only if the pupil lacks the specific immunization for that disease.

• Repeals section 15-873, which previously allowed for medical, religious, and personal belief exemptions from immunization requirements.

• Renames immunization requirements from "required" to "recommended" throughout Arizona statutes related to school attendance and health department rules.

• Removes immunization compliance requirements from cash assistance eligibility under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (section 46-292).
