HB 2111 Summary

• Establishes a five-year resource and service consolidation grant program administered by the Arizona Department of Education.

• County school superintendents or groups of superintendents may apply for grants to consolidate resources and develop services for school districts, charter schools, libraries, private schools, tribal schools, detention centers, and jails within their jurisdiction.

• Applicants must demonstrate need for consolidation, evidence of local requests for consolidation, projected cost savings or efficiencies, and that the proposal will be self-sufficient within five years.

• Department must award grants by February 1, 2021 and disburse funds annually for five years or until the project becomes self-sufficient, whichever occurs first.

• Appropriates $10,000,000 from the state general fund for fiscal year 2020-2021 for grant distribution; program expires June 30, 2026.
