HB 2249 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 14-3203 regarding priority for appointment as a personal representative in probate proceedings.

• Excludes funeral directors and funeral establishment owners who have control of the decedent's remains from the priority of creditors to be appointed as personal representative 45 days after death.

• Maintains all other priorities for personal representative appointment, including persons nominated in a will, surviving spouses, heirs, devisees, veterans' services, and the public fiduciary.

• Effective March 23, 2020.
