HB2280 Summary

• Requires inspections of fire dampers, smoke dampers, or combinations thereof to be performed by persons certified by an entity accredited by the American National Standards Institute.

• Applies this certification requirement statewide through amendments to both Title 9, Chapter 4, Article 8 (Section 9-495) and Section 11-861 of Arizona Revised Statutes.

• Mandates that all cities, towns, and counties with adopted fire codes must adopt regulations to enforce these certification requirements on or before January 1, 2021.
