HB 2283 Summary

• Expands eligibility for nondomiciled commercial driver licenses to include active duty military members and their spouses or dependents who are not domiciled in Arizona and maintain an out-of-state residence address.

• Allows the Department of Transportation to issue nondomiciled commercial instruction permits (in addition to licenses) to qualifying applicants who meet the requirements in section 28-3225.

• Maintains existing eligibility for residents of jurisdictions with commercial motor vehicle testing standards that do not meet federal requirements under 49 CFR Part 383.

• Requires applicants for a nondomiciled commercial driver license to surrender any nondomiciled commercial driver license previously issued by another state.

• Specifies that licenses issued under this section must be marked as "nondomiciled commercial driver license" or "nondomiciled CDL."
