HB 2459 Summary

• Requires each charter school governing body and school district governing board to develop and maintain a publicly accessible, searchable expenditure and revenue website database by September 1, 2021.

• Database must include expenditure data such as recipient name and address, amount spent, funding source, date, budget category, purpose description, and unique identifier where possible.

• Expenditure data must be provided in an open-structured format that allows users to download, sort, search, and systematically access all information.

• Financial data must be updated at least monthly, archived for historical access, easily accessible from the school's or district's main website, and include an automated notification feed for user subscriptions.

• Database may only contain public records under Arizona law and information not confidential or protected from disclosure under state or federal law; employee payment information must identify individuals by name and business address only.
