HB 2467 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 38-1113 to allow peace officers designated by the Department of Transportation pursuant to section 28-369 to carry rifles.

• Preserves existing restrictions on firearm carrying by peace officers in jails, correctional facilities, courts, and other specified locations.

• Maintains law enforcement agency authority to determine the type, model, caliber and brand of firearms carried by peace officers, with the new exception for ADOT-designated officers carrying rifles.

• Applies to both active peace officers and retired peace officers who meet the statutory definition of having served honorably for at least ten consecutive years.
