HB 2536 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 36-3601 to expand the definition of "telemedicine" to include asynchronous store-and-forward technologies and remote patient monitoring technologies.

• Redefines telemedicine as the interactive use of audio, video or other electronic media for diagnosis, consultation or treatment, rather than requiring the physical presence of the patient.

• Explicitly excludes audio-only telephone, video-only systems, fax machines, instant messages and email from the definition of telemedicine.

• Expands the definition of "health care provider" to include providers licensed under title 32, chapters 19, 34 and 41, and title 36, chapter 17.
