Prohibits employers from screening prospective employees based on previous wage, salary history, benefits, or other compensation.

Prohibits employers from requesting or requiring prospective employees to disclose previous wage or salary history as a condition of interview, continued consideration, or employment.

Prohibits employers from seeking previous wage or salary information from current or former employers, or checking public records for a prospective employee's wage or salary history.

Prohibits retaliation against employees or prospective employees who oppose or complain about violations, or who testify or participate in investigations related to violations.

Imposes civil penalties of $5,000 for first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense (maximum $10,000), plus liability for special damages up to $10,000, attorney fees, and injunctive relief.
