HB2683 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 41-1750 to add a definition of "anti-semitism" based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition adopted May 26, 2016, and adopted by the United States Department of State.

• Specifies that anti-semitism includes contemporary examples identified in the adopted definition but explicitly excludes criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country.

• Requires law enforcement agencies to collect information concerning criminal offenses that manifest evidence of prejudice based on anti-semitism, race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender or disability for the statewide uniform crime reporting program.

• Directs the Department of Public Safety to maintain and disseminate this hate crime data through the central state repository and Arizona criminal justice information system.
