HB 2827 Summary

• Requires county recorder to conduct hand count in any precinct where ballots cast exceed registered voters on the 29th day before election, limited to federal, statewide, and legislative races.

• Hand count results must be posted on the county recorder's website.

• County recorder must certify in writing to secretary of state within 10 days after canvass that tabulating equipment was not connected to external internet from 24 hours before early ballot tabulation through completion of tabulation.

• If a precinct is randomly selected for the standard hand count audit under section 16-602, only the required hand count under this section shall be conducted for that precinct.

• References existing law (section 16-1021) for handling instances where a person cast multiple ballots in federal elections.
