AZ HR2006

Honors the 1st Battalion, 158th Infantry Regiment "Bushmasters" unit of the Arizona Army National Guard for their service and sacrifice.

Recognizes the Bushmasters' distinguished history beginning in World War II, when they were deployed to Panama for jungle training and later to the Southwest Pacific Theater at General Douglas MacArthur's personal request.

Notes that the Bushmasters held the record for longest continuous combat deployment of any National Guard unit when deactivated in 1946, a record that still stands.

Acknowledges the unit's reactivation in 2005 and subsequent deployments to Afghanistan beginning in 2007, during which two Bushmasters were killed and others wounded.

Expresses the House of Representatives' gratitude for the unit's dedication, bravery, skill, and continued sacrifices in preserving democracy.
