AZ SB1065

Increases appointed members of the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission from 14 to 17 members by the governor, with no more than 9 from the same political party.

Requires appointed members to include police chiefs, county attorneys, and sheriffs from counties of varying populations, plus one law enforcement leader, former judge, mayor, county supervisor, chief probation officer, indigent defense agency leader, nonprofit juvenile justice organization leader, and a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist with criminal justice experience.

Maintains two-year terms for appointed members, terminating upon convening of the first regular legislative session, with vacancy appointments made in the same manner as original appointments.

Establishes staggered initial terms for new commission members: one member with a term ending January 11, 2021, and two members with terms ending January 10, 2022.
