SB 1143 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 41-1750 to add a definition of "anti-semitism" based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's May 26, 2016 definition, as adopted by the U.S. Department of State.

• Clarifies that anti-semitism does not include criticism of Israel similar to criticism leveled against any other country.

• Requires the Department of Public Safety to collect and report information on criminal offenses that manifest evidence of prejudice based on anti-semitism, race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, or disability as part of the statewide uniform crime reporting program.

• Mandates that law enforcement agencies provide information about hate crimes manifesting anti-semitic prejudice to the central state repository for statistical tracking and analysis purposes.
