SB1234 Summary

• Amends Laws 2018, chapter 285, sections 27 and 28, which previously imposed reductions to school district and charter school additional assistance funding through fiscal year 2022-2023.

• Restores full additional assistance funding to school districts and charter schools beginning in fiscal year 2020-2021 by eliminating the scheduled reductions that were to continue through 2022-2023.

• For school districts, eliminates the $128.7 million reduction for FY 2020-2021 and the $64.4 million reduction for FY 2021-2022, making all reductions $0.00 from FY 2020-2021 forward.

• For charter schools, eliminates the $6.8 million reduction for FY 2020-2021 and the $3.4 million reduction for FY 2021-2022, making all reductions $0.00 from FY 2020-2021 forward.

• Maintains existing exemption for school districts with fewer than 1,100 pupils and the legislative intent regarding classroom spending increases.
