Schools and child care facilities must conduct periodic first-drawn tap water testing to monitor for lead contamination, with testing performed by department-approved providers.

Schools and child care facilities where lead contamination is found must provide safe drinking water to occupants, continue testing, and notify parents in writing and post results on the school website.

All testing results and remediation plans must be made publicly available on school/facility websites and immediately submitted to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and county health departments.

The department shall adopt implementing rules consistent with the Safe Drinking Water Act and biennially publish a report on testing findings to the governor and legislature.

The department must identify available federal and state grant funding for testing and may provide financial assistance to schools and child care facilities facing unreasonable financial hardship in complying with testing requirements.
