Requires cities and towns to notify potential claimants of their obligation to file a notice of claim at least ninety days before the statutory filing deadline under section 12-821.01.

Requires counties to notify potential claimants of their obligation to file a notice of claim at least ninety days before the statutory filing deadline under section 12-821.01.

If a city, town, or county fails to provide the required ninety-day notice, claimants receive an extended two-year filing period (from the date the cause of action accrues) instead of the standard notice of claim timeframe.

Provisions apply only to cases where the cause of action accrues on or after the effective date of the act.
