SB 1461 - Legislators; Opt Out; Per Diem

• Amends sections 38-624 and 41-1104 of Arizona Revised Statutes relating to legislative per diem and subsistence payments.

• Establishes separate per diem rates based on legislator residency: $35 per day for members with permanent residence in Maricopa County, and 100% of the annual average federal per diem rate for Maricopa County for members with residences outside Maricopa County.

• Allows members in counties other than their residence to receive an additional $25 per day subsistence when acting on legislative matters with presiding officer approval.

• Permits each legislator to opt out of receiving subsistence payments prescribed in the statute.

• Effective January 10, 2021.
