Adds strangulation as a form of aggravated assault when a person impedes breathing or circulation of blood by applying pressure to the throat or neck, applying excessive pressure to the chest, or obstructing the nose and mouth, provided domestic violence circumstances exist.

Creates mandatory sentencing for aggravated assault by strangulation with no eligibility for suspension of sentence, commutation, or release on any basis until the full sentence is served.

Changes the classification of aggravated assault by strangulation from a class 6 felony to a class 4 felony.

Clarifies that aggravated assault committed by peace officers under subsection A, paragraphs 1 or 2 is a class 2 felony with no suspension of sentence eligibility.

Reorganizes and updates statutory provisions regarding felony classifications for aggravated assault offenses committed against peace officers, prosecutors, and other protected individuals.
