Arizona ratifies the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted by Congress on March 22, 1972.

The amendment prohibits denial or abridgement of equality of rights under the law by the United States or any state on account of sex.

Congress is granted power to enforce the amendment's provisions through appropriate legislation.

The amendment takes effect two years after the date of ratification.

Arizona's Secretary of State must transmit a copy of the resolution to the President of the United States Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
