HB2016 Summary

• Adds subsection J allowing the department to waive work requirements for individuals receiving full-time child care assistance who are enrolled full-time in accredited educational institutions, remedial education, or employment training programs leading to vocational, technical, trade certification, or associate/bachelor's degrees reasonably related to employment goals.

• Requires individuals waiving work requirements to confirm intent to obtain education or training leading to employment in occupations with starting wages sufficient to eliminate need for public assistance.

• Requires the department to review education or training programs to verify they are related to employment goals and that individuals demonstrate satisfactory progress.

• Renumbers existing subsections J through P as K through Q to accommodate the new subsection J regarding education and training waivers.
