HB 2030 Summary

• Allows homeowners' associations and planned communities to not prohibit the display of first responder flags (law enforcement, fire department, paramedics/emergency medical technicians) on members' properties.

• Defines first responder flags with specific color, word, and symbol limitations for each category (law enforcement: blue/black/white with police shield; fire: red/gold/black/white with maltese cross; medical: blue/black/white with star of life).

• Permits first responder flags to incorporate designs of one or two other first responder flags to form a combined flag.

• Applies the same flag display protections to condominiums (Section 33-1261) and planned communities (Section 33-1808), consistent with existing protections for American flags, state flags, POW/MIA flags, and Gadsden flags.
