Repeals section 27-102, Arizona Revised Statutes as amended by Laws 2016, chapter 371, section 6, and re-enacts it with modifications under Laws 2016, chapter 128, section 5.

Requires the state geologist to be a graduate of an accredited institution and either registered as a geologist by the state board of technical registration or a trained geologist as defined in section 32-144.

Establishes the Arizona Geological Survey within the University of Arizona with offices located in proximity to the University of Arizona in Tucson, administered by the state geologist who serves at the pleasure of the Arizona Board of Regents.

Authorizes the state geologist to engage university faculty and students, organize field expeditions, establish an advisory board of practicing geologists and other professionals, and engage volunteer staff.

Repeals section 41-3022.07, Arizona Revised Statutes.
