HB2124 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes sections 15-341.01, 15-393, and 15-393.01 relating to career technical education districts (CTEDs).

• Allows CTEDs to operate on any day of the week at any time between July 1 and June 30 of each fiscal year, with flexibility to schedule fewer or more than 180 days per year with equivalent instructional hours.

• Establishes clear statutory authority for flexible scheduling in CTEDs, including Saturday instruction, to accommodate block scheduling and longer hours required for industry certification and student access.

• Revises student count and average daily membership calculations for CTED students, allowing up to 1.75 average daily membership for approved programs at centralized, satellite, or leased centralized campuses with instruction based on hourly requirements rather than traditional school days.

• Requires the department of education to include specific performance indicators in CTED annual achievement profiles, including graduation rates, program completion rates, and postgraduation employment and enrollment rates.
