House Bill 2126 Summary

• Expands primary care provider loan repayment program eligibility to include pharmacists and behavioral health providers in addition to physicians, dentists, and advance practice providers.

• Exempts applicants working at Indian Health Service facilities, tribal health facilities, or urban Indian health facilities from the requirement to provide sliding fee scale services to qualify for the program.

• Increases maximum loan repayment amounts to $65,000 for the first two years and $35,000 for subsequent years for physicians and dentists; $50,000 for the first two years and $25,000 for subsequent years for advance practice providers, pharmacists, and behavioral health providers.

• Establishes rural private primary care provider loan repayment program for private practices in federally designated health professional shortage areas or medically underserved areas.

• Exempts the Department of Health Services from rulemaking requirements under Arizona Revised Statutes title 41, chapters 6 and 6.1 for 18 months after the effective date.
