AZ HB2712

Requires the Department of Transportation to include at least one alternative alignment in the tier 2 environmental review phase for new state highways in counties with populations between 400,000 and 800,000 persons.

The alternative alignment must service the most populous geographical area with the greatest potential for economic development based on anticipated highway opening date.

The alternative alignment must represent feedback from citizens, stakeholders, and resolutions adopted by impacted local jurisdictions submitted as public comments.

Requires the department to reissue any final tier 1 environmental impact statement and record of decision issued between December 31, 2020 and the effective date of this act that does not comply with these requirements.

This section sunsets and is repealed on December 31, 2022.
