This concurrent resolution expresses the Arizona Legislature's condolences to the family and friends of Ava Jeraldene Arpaio, who passed away on March 20, 2021, at age 89.

Ava was born on August 25, 1931, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and met her future husband Joe Arpaio on a blind date in Washington, D.C. in 1954; they married three years later.

She had a varied career including running a dance studio, working as a federal narcotics agent's spouse, attending beauty school in Chicago, and operating a travel agency in Scottsdale that became the longest-running in the city.

Ava was survived by her husband of 63 years, two children (Sherry and Rocco), her brother-in-law Michael, and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Most recently, Ava managed commercial properties in Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, supported her husband's law enforcement and public service career spanning nearly 60 years, and helped operate a Catholic tearoom.
