School districts and charter schools must establish annual age-appropriate, research-based child abuse prevention education and training for employees and students beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, following guidelines from the state department of education.

Students must attend the training each year with at least two opportunities provided annually to participate.

School employees must receive prevention training as part of new employee orientation and on a schedule adopted by the school district or charter school, with exemptions for teachers and administrators who completed training under section 15-218.

Each school must post the department of child safety's toll-free number for reporting child abuse or neglect in a clearly visible public location accessible to students.

Schools may choose their own delivery method for the training and must include a description of the education in an informational handbook or on their website.
