AZ SB1039

Establishes a study committee on statewide eviction prevention and housing affordability consisting of 18 members including legislators, state officials, county constables, housing advocates, property owners representatives, and university researchers.

Committee must meet at least quarterly and conduct a comprehensive study to reduce eviction filings and mitigate costs to tenants and landlords.

Committee shall review policies and statutes affecting evictions, explore tenant rights education and court system access, gather housing affordability data, and propose statutory revisions.

Requires committee to submit a report with recommendations for administrative or legislative action to the governor, president of the senate, and speaker of the house of representatives by December 1, 2021.

Committee members receive no compensation and the committee automatically repeals on October 31, 2022.
