SB1085 Summary

• Establishes "nursing-supported group homes" as a new health care institution category for no more than six persons with developmental disabilities operated by service providers under contract with the Department of Economic Security, providing room and board, daily habilitation, and continuous nursing support.

• Requires nursing-supported group homes to be licensed by the Department of Health Services pursuant to chapter 4 of Arizona Revised Statutes on or before July 1, 2022.

• Exempts nursing-supported group homes from zoning standards for health care institutions prescribed by the Department of Health Services.

• Adds definitions for nursing-supported group homes to both the health care institutions and developmental disabilities service chapters, clarifying they are community residential settings under the developmental disabilities framework.

• Extends electronic monitoring device authorization to nursing-supported group homes, subject to the same consent, disclosure, and privacy requirements as group homes and intermediate care facilities.
